General narrative criteria:

This wetland is located in the Ooty Taluk & is also highly polluted. The source is from the Marlimundh area. The area of the wetland is about 2.378 acres & is 2150 M above sea level. The other half to the left of the road is fenced by the HADP as part of the wetland conservation plan.

Biological and botanical condition:

The vegetation comprises of the upland species like Cytisus, Ulex and Pine plantation surrounding the wetland. The open part of the wetland was dominant with aquatic plants like Eichorrnia, Rorippa and Arum spp. Acorus, Juncus spp. was found the marshy part of the wetland. The life forms like toads & frogs where found.

 Threats:

 The source of the wetland is not protected. It is highly polluted & still being used for various uses like, washing clothes & utensils at the domestic level. Grazing is high & some parts the water is stagnant. The water quality of the wetland has presence of Coliform, Low Flouride, Hard water & pH is 5.9. High anthropogenic pressure. The water is also very hard and residents reported skin infections after using the water for bathing.
